Empowering New Generations in New Engineering
ENGINE stands for Empowering New Generations in Engineering. We are a student-led initiative dedicated to expanding access to STEM education, hands-on engineering experiences, and innovation opportunities for students around the world, especially in underprivleged communities.
Our mission is to make STEM education accessible, engaging, and impactful. Through hands-on workshop kits, educational manuals, mentorship, and community partnerships, we aim to spark curiosity, build technical skills, and empower students to become problem-solvers in their own communities.
ENGINE operates through three main pathways: Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Mechanical Engineering. We design and distribute STEM workshop kits, host educational workshops, and collaborate with schools, organizations, and community groups to bring engineering opportunities to students who may not otherwise have access to them.
ENGINE workshops are organized into three engineering pathways that introduce students to different fields of engineering and potential future careers.
Circuits, electronics, and energy systems. Students learn how electricity powers the world.
Careers: Electrical Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Hardware Engineer
Biology meets engineering. Students explore lab science, medical technology, and research.
Careers: Biomedical Engineer, Research Scientist, Doctor
Design, machines, and problem solving through physical engineering projects.
Careers: Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, Product Designer
Regional workshops, international Arduino programs, and hands-on STEM kit distribution.
Students designed and built functional water filters while learning about the critical importance of clean water access.
Partnered with Math Made Simple to guide students in an Afghan refugee community through an interactive circuit-building workshop.
Brought laboratory science to life through an innovative micropipetting workshop where students practiced precision lab techniques.
Students learned core electrical engineering concepts through festive creativity, building LED circuits integrated into cardboard holiday designs.
Hosted an engaging electrical engineering workshop at the University of Houston Library where students explored circuit fundamentals.
Hosted an exciting community pickleball tournament raising over $250 to support STEM education materials and outreach programs.
4-month program • Weekly live instruction • 175+ students across 3 international sites
ENGINE delivers a hands-on Arduino and engineering program across three partner sites: Mumias Vipers | Kenya, CCCYD | Zambia, and Impact School | Lesotho
Through weekly one-hour live sessions, students learn coding, circuit design, and problem-solving using Tinkercad simulation environments that align with the ENGINE curriculum. The program guides students from beginner-level programming concepts to more advanced engineering applications.
Students develop technical and collaborative skills while building virtual circuits and interactive Arduino systems before transitioning to physical hardware projects.
At the conclusion of the program, ENGINE ships Arduino kits directly to each site so students can apply the skills they developed throughout the course.
Using their kits, students create capstone-style engineering projects focused on solving problems and supporting needs within their own communities, while continuing to receive mentorship and technical guidance from the ENGINE team.
ENGINE distributes hands-on STEM workshop kits to partner organizations and schools, providing students with accessible engineering experiences across multiple disciplines.
Each package contains three guided workshop pathways corresponding to ENGINE’s core focus areas: electrical engineering, biotechnology, and mechanical engineering.
Kits include all required materials, components, activity supplies, and build resources needed to complete each workshop from start to finish.
Every workshop also includes detailed instructional manuals, educator guidance materials, and step-by-step video resources designed for both students and teachers to follow independently.
In addition to the provided resources, the ENGINE team offers virtual support and mentorship sessions to help instructors and students throughout implementation when needed.
